Fisheries
The CGLWAA board maintains a strong working relationship with the Walker Area Fisheries Office as this is important to maintaining an effective and consistent line of communication regarding their management actions on the Woman Lake Chain. Our FISHERIES PROGRAM is supported by working in conjunction with the DNR to monitor the Boy River spawn, hatching of walleye eggs, re-introduction of walleye fry into our lakes, and electro-fishing that predicts maturing fish populations in the future. We obtain annual reporting on these DNR activities and share that information with our members along with other articles and updates as they occur.
Navigational Safety
Promote safe boating and watercraft use on our lakes. Volunteers help educate the community about safe navigation practices and assist in maintaining navigational aids.
Newsletters
The newsletter is an important way for us to communicate information about maintaining and improving environmental quality on our lake chain. Additionally, other topics of interest for our lake association members are included. Over the past year, we produced and distributed a spring and fall issue of Lake News to our members. The majority of our members are receiving the newsletter electronically, which helps reduce the Association’s cost and positively impacts the environment.

Roadside Cleanup
Our roadside cleanup program helps keep our local highways and roads clean and free of litter by relying on our volunteers to pick up trash along their adopted section.
Our program also enables lake area residents who are environmentally conscious to make a personal contribution to a cleaner environment.
Road Signs
There are 44 standards around the chain of lakes that display the names of our members. If you know of a name sign on the standard that belongs to a member who has moved, please contact Jon Stevenson at roadsigns@womanlakechain.org
Shoreline Buffer and Restoration
Our Lake Association annually offers free trees and shrubs to encourage shoreline and yard naturalization by using native trees and plants as a buffer between homes, lawns and lakes.

Water Quality
Our water quality committee continues to collect water samples from Child, Girl and Woman Lakes as part of a study through RMB Environmental Laboratories. When excessive nitrogen and phosphorus levels enter our water supply, they tend to promote algae growth which reduces water clarity and visibility. By practicing good stewardship and minimizing run-off into our lakes and streams we hope to have a good future. To see the water quality data click here.
